The second promotion of the book "Gaia and the Garden" is taking place at MKC Skopje. The book is a joint work of Eva Bozinovska, the author of the text and a student at S.U.G.S., "Nikola Karev" in Skopje, as well as the authors of the illustrations Elena Apostolovska, Mirjana Spasoska and Jana Stefanovska, students in the second year of the secondary school art school DSULUD "Lazar Lichenoski" in Skopje at the Multimedia Department.
Eva Božinovska's text talks about the return to nature and the values of gardening in a dystopian urban world.
The book is a joint publication of the Youth Cultural Center (MKC) and the Press to Exit project space from Skopje. The editors of the book are Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski, and the graphic editing is done by Ruse Arsov. Mentors in the project were Dusica Dimitrovska (illustration), Hayan Alhalabi (permaculture), Kristina Gorovska (graphic design), Iliana Petrushevska (visual art).
The book "Gaia and the Garden" is the result of the active involvement of young people in creating content on a caring approach to nature through an interdisciplinary educational program.
Financial support for the project is provided by the annual program of the Project Space Press to Exit entitled "Undisciplined: Interdisciplinary models of research artistic practice" and the international project "Big Time Takeover" under the leadership of MKC and coordination of Margarita Arsova, within the framework of the Erasmus + program for cooperation and innovation and the exchange of good practices of the European Union for strategic partnerships, which include educational programs for young people.
From the very beginning, MKC cooperates with the artists Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski in order to develop a modern interdisciplinary, artistic and educational concept and program, which will cover all the key goals and directions of the project. From this dialogue came the project "Gradidnina: The garden as an instrument, permaculture as a methodology" developed in collaboration with Hayan Alhalabi, an expert in the field of permaculture and a collaborator of the civic initiative "Bostanie", who is involved as an expert and educator in the creation of the first institutional permaculture garden in Skopje.
"Gradidnina" aims to encourage young people (aged 14 to 18) in three key areas: 1. creative expression through an artistic approach to nature, 2. using digital tools in the process towards permaculture gardening, and 3. developing responsibility for his possession and income from work. The main goal is to establish a holistic synthesis of different approaches for creative encouragement of young people, inspired by the great experience of the partners in the project at the local, regional and national level.
