LPE: January 11, 2006 Exhibition│ Edin Vejselovic (BiH) │ Untitled 2006 │ First solo exhibition in Skopje of Sarajevo – based, Macedonian born artist Vejselovic. The project includes photographic documentation of urban ready-mades.

VCI: February 14 – March 03, 2006
Residency│Basak Senova is the first visiting curator in 2006. Senova was also part of the Visiting Curatorial Initiative programme in 2005. Her second visit is related to the next phase of her curatorial workshop implemented during the first residency. She was invited to oversee the development and production of the exhibitions Citism and OFF initiated during the workshop.

NPP: February 17 – 24, 2006
Production │Citism │Curators: Elena Veljanovska, Hristijan Panev and Boris Petrovski. Artists: Neda Firfova, Boris Petrovski and Antonio Dimitrov. Citism is an attempt to detect the unique characteristics of Skopje by defining the codes of the urban language. The artists of the project process their researches through different forms of expressions by using and analyzing graphical languages, projecting special interventions, and processing sound. Each and every form operates to capture unique segments of city life. The project itself synthesizes various forms of expression in the urban context by striving to capture the instant and multilateral ambience of the city.

VCI: February 22 – 24, 2006 Special project “cross-meeting 1” │Partners: Basak Senova, NOMAD (TR); Erzen Shkololli, ICA EXIT (KS); Martgarethe Makovec, < rotor> association for contemporary art (A); and press to exit project space (MK) │This was two-days gathering (with open and closed sessions). Its purpose was to enhance various types of collaborative projections, making lead way to a serious of presentations, meetings and discussions.

NPP: March 03 – 10, 2006
Production│OFF│Curators: Biljana P. Isijanin and Marjan Denkov│Artists: Nikola Uzunovski, Tihomir Topuzovski, Aleksandra Petrusevska and Vedran Bojanovski (MK) │OFF was shaped by recognizing the value of limitations of any kind. The emphasis was on spatial restrictions, impositions, and reactions by the artists, the curators and the audience, increasing the limitations of the gallery space and tightening the space around the artwork itself.

LPE: March 8, 2006 Presentation │ Nikola Uzunovski (MK) │ Young Macedonian artist who studies at the IUVA – MA Visual Arts Production program in Venice (IT), presented his current research projects.

LPE: March 13, 2006 Lecture │Laura Mansfield and Amy Feneck (UK) │Spike Island Art Space Bristol Mansfield - writer and Feneck - film and video artist, are members of Spike Island an art space in Bristol. Their presentation consisted of an introduction to the program, recent projects, artist residency program, city initiatives and group research projects, alongside more diverse art practices occurring throughout Bristol itself.

NPP: March 27 – April 14, 2006 Exhibition │Liljana Gjuzelova, curated by Suzana Milevska (MK)│Eternal Recurrence 4 Liljana Gjuzelova’s Eternal Recurrence 4 is a video-art piece documenting her performance which took place on the 17th October 2004 on Zajchev Rid. It is the fourth project in the Eternal Recurrence series, and, at the same time, a summary of the previous three: the first one presented in a private house in Magjir Maalo (1997), the second at the Museum of the City of Skopje (2001), and the third at the Open Graphic Art Studio (2003).

LPE: April 26 – 28, 2006 Screenings │NGO Eko Svest (MK)│Chernobyl+20│On the day of the 20-year anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, Eko Svest presented three movies on the issue of ecology: Sacrifice (23 min), Fallout from Chernobyl (48 min) and Nuclear Controversies (50 min). The presentations of those documentary films were provided by the Dutch foundation XminY Solidariteitsfonds, and the movies are part of the collection of the Dutch foundation Laka.

May 03 – 07, 2006 External activities │Hristina Ivanoska (MK)│Close Connections 2006, Amsterdam (NL) Participation of Hristina Ivanoska, the program advisor of press to exit project space, at the 2nd edition of this international event organized by IZA Foundation and initiated by its director Ellen de Bruijne. The event takes place during the KunstRai, Amsterdam Art Fair for Contemporary Art. Close Connections gives a close look at the contemporary art scene in the Netherlands to the invited guests from all around the worlds (directors of museums or galleries, curators, artists or art critics). For the program IZA Foundation is collaborating with De Appel, W139, Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, de Atelier, Rijksakademie etc.

LPE: May 04 – 05, 2006 Presentations │ Galia Dimitrova (BG) │Independent curator and art program coordinator at the InterSpace Media Art Centre in Sofia, presented recent curatorial projects On Difference 2, Coffee with Sugar, The Global and the Man Exhibition, as well as selected projects from InterSpace programme (Urban Cycles 1&2 2000/2002, MACROVIDEO, Net User conference) and screening of Cinemapsorts – Sofia films. www.i-space.org.

LPE: May 13 - 14, 2006 Exhibition│Iskra Dimitrova (MK)│historyofasexuality │The project deals with the barbershop perceived exclusively as a masculine social space. The space is seen as visually and conceptually opposed, interrelated and combined to the intimate narrative within the stories of four different strands of hair.

LPE: May 17 – 19, 2006 Exhibition │Dreams │Marijeta Sidovski (MK) │The objects, created in the last two years, are shown for the first time in Macedonia. Using small formats, they are molded in shapes associating to specific holy relicts. This exhibition was previously presented at the Center of Contemporary Art of Montenegro in Podgorica, Cultural Centre of the City in Novi Sad, and Gallery ’73 in Belgrade (SCG).

May 20 – 28, 2006 External activities │ Biljana Tanurovska (MK) │Glance Through the Fence, Mobil Studios, Sofia (BG)│ Participation of Bilana Tanurovska, manager at press to exit project space, in the discussion Strategies for Mediation of Art. Curators and cultural operators for the neighboring countries were invited in Sofia to present the local art scenes within the framework of the topic of cultural mediation.

LPE: May 23 – 24, 2006 Lecture │ Krist Gruijthujsen (NL) │Archiving Disappearance: The Archive │In the project Archiving Disappearance, the phenomenon of “stepped out” or concisely disappearing from the art world, is investigated. The complete project will comprise an archive, two symposia and a publication. The Archive is only accessible through public lectures in which different case studies are presented and discussed.

May 29 - 31, 2006 External activities │ Yane Calovski (MK) │A Planning Summit: Lost Highway Expedition, Galerija Skuc, Ljubljana (SLO) │Yane Calovski, artistic director of press to exit project space, presented the program and the ideas for participation in Lost Highway, the first event of Europe Lost and Found (ELF), an interdisciplinary and cross-national research project that imagines economic, political and cultural geographies for a future Europe. Initiated by Central Foundation for Future Cities and the School of Missing Studies network. ELF is self supported by its participating members and the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trust for Mutual Understanding.

LPE: June 6, 2006 Lecture│Gordana Vrencoska (MK) │Design for leadership │The lecture focuses on the experience gained during postgraduate studies at Central Saint Martins College in London, where Vrencoska was introduced to the interdisciplinary approach to design. In addition, she presented the project “Kingdom for All”, shown at DesignMai festival in Berlin, that highlights the role of the designer as social critic.

VCI: June 18 - 30, 2006 Residency│Agnieszka Kurant (PL/FR)│Artist and curator, Agnieszka Kurant (Poland/France) during her residency in Skopje, presented her lecture dedicated on the Anna Sanders Films project focused on her collaboration with Pierre Huyghe, Philippe Parreno, Charles de Meaux and other artists. The exhibition “Double Exit” illustrated her research in limited economics and invisibility of the artworks relating the subliminal to the aspect of economy in art.

August 11 - 12, 2006 Special project│Lost Highway Expedition (LHE) in Skopje │Lost Highway Expedition is the first event of Europe Lost and Found (ELF), an interdisciplinary and cross-national research project that imagines economic, political and cultural geographies for a future Europe. Initiated by Central Foundation for Future Cities and the School of Missing Studies network. ELF is self supported by its participating members and the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trust for Mutual Understanding. This movement of artists, architects and other practitioners will navigate the unstable territory of the Western Balkans, envisioning decentred, non-hierarchical, informal, bottom up, self-generating open source network society, will arrive in Skopje and hosted at press to exit project space.

LPE: August 31, 2006 Lecture│ Dr. Jean-Paul Martinon│Curatorial / Knowledge│ His lecture was an attempt to unravel how an exhibition can be interpreted as displaying forms of knowledge. Jean-Paul Martinon has a PhD in art history from Reading University. He is currently a lecturer in Museum Studies and Curatorial Theory in the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths College, London. He was the co-founder and curator of Rear Window (1991-1998) an independent arts trust that staged a series of exhibitions and conferences in temporary sites across London.

September 9 - 13, 2006 External activity │ Yane Calovski (MK)│ International Conference “Art,Architecture and Recovery” │LMCC (Lower Manhattan Cultural Council) New York City (USA). Calovski was invited to speak at this 5th annual international conference focusing on art, architecture and the notion of community rebuilding initiated by one of the most prominent cultural institutions in the USA following the devastating terrorist attack on NYC on September 11, 2001. The issues discussed at the conference pertained on various forms of social and political consequences in societies facing democratic transitions. He discussed the role the art can play in proposing a better cultural and social understanding among people. The focus was placed on the Lost Highway Exhibition and also on press to exit projects pace as a new model of a public art space.

The presentation is part of the White Nights event organized by the City of Skopje. |

Working Session│ Mrs. Wendy Newman, Director of Trust For Mutual Understanding (USA) │Mrs. Newman whom Yane Calovski had meet in New York City in as part of the LMCC conference, expressed a desire to visit Skopje and press to exit project space and meet with the cultural producers in the city. For that occasion press to exit organized a reception that had a working caracter. Invited institutions and indivudlas included CAC, MSU, Tocka, Museum fo the City of Skopje, The Office for Culture in the City of Skopje, Mala Stanica, The Fine Art Academy, and others.

LPE: October 06, 2006 Lecture │Anette Lundebye (GB)│Sustainability: responsibility of the designer as a creator of artifacts│ Anette Lundebye is a designer and theorist based in London. She works as a consultant providing research and supporting change in organizations with focus on sustainability. Her focus is on the contextual aspects of design processes and the role of the designer in the re-evaluation and promotion of responsible design solutions.

October 12 - 17, 2006 External presentation │Hristina Ivanoska (MK) │ IMPEX – artists-run-space – special project of Traffo Gallery in Budapest, Hungary. Ivanoska was invited by one of the co-founders of IMPEX Katarina Sevic to present the work of press to exit project space and begin a dialogue for possibility of future collaborations.

LPE: October 27 – November 24, 2006 Residency, Exhibition │ Theo Ågren and Bjørn Hegardt (SWE/NO)│Skopje Whirlwind │The project’s starting point is Skopje and its residents. After visiting various homes in and around the city, photographing interiors and objects, the result will be presented as an installation in press to exit project space. By mixing belongings, meaningful or useless, together in a whirlwind, the photo-installation is a portrait of the interaction between the residents and the artists.

LPE: November 04. 2006 Exhibition and live performance │ Linas Jablonskis and Dainius Liskevicius (LIT)│Independent Drawing Gig (IDG) Vol. 2 at the Museum of Contemporary Art – Skopje and press to exitproject space │Independent Drawing Gig (IDG) is an initiative of Vilnius-based artist Linas Jablonskis meant to signify an “energy infused” event fusing non-traditional drawings and the independent music scene. By bringing together the creative and emotive link that exists between drawing and music, incorporating aspects of story telling, lyricism, energy and attitude, the completeness of gesture and intent, IDG inspires a fresh experience of images and sound.

External activity│4th MSE - Meeting in Prishtina (KS) │Yane Calovski, Hristina Ivanoska, and Biljana Tanovska as representatives of press to exit project space participated at the 4th MSE- Meeting where more than 30 art initiatives from Middle and South-Eastern Europe met in Prishtina, Kosovo. The aims of the meeting were exchange of information and experience, discussion of current issues in the fields of art, culture and theory, and development of future collaborations among participants. Calovski talked and presented highlights and the objectives of the program. |

LPE: December 20, 2006 Screening │ Line - initiative + movement │Home video #001│ Home_video presents video materials made by Macedonian artists. The dynamics of the projections will depend on the arrival of new materials, and each new screening will follow after collecting these materials. If there are not enough new productions, this idea will come to its end.

VCI: December 25 - 27, 2006 Research │Marko Stamenkovic (SR) │art-e-conomy │An art historian and curator from Belgrade, Stamenkovic gave his first public presentation at press to exit project space introducing the issue of critical curatorial practices in a specific post socialist Eastern European conditions, realized in an attempt to set up the coordinates between transitional economics and contemporary art. The presentation therefore consisted of two activities: a project presentation art-e-conomy: Transitional economics and art theory and practice of contemporary global production, and conducting a series of interviews with cultural producers in the city including Iskra Gesovska (Cultural Centre Tocka), Igor Toshevski (independent artist), Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski (press to exit project space), Aleksandar Kocarev (lawyer and representative of the economic sector).
